The Festival
Dear Friends,
Let me give a warm welcome to all participants of the World Dance Festival. It was really a pleasure for me to be asked to be patron of this event.
As a former athlete and as Minister of State responsible for sport today, I take this opportunity to express my respect and admiration to all those who practice this sport.
Although I was successful in swimming, I have been able to learn a lot about the art of dance thanks to my wife. From my experience I know that a top dancer has at least the same endurance, strength and tenacity as swimmers preparing to qualify to the Olympic Games.
Nowadays the selection of sports performing at the Olympics is strongly influenced by their popularity and audience. Nevertheless, dance is the most popular activity of our culture since the stone age! Dance is a sport which is fun and gratifying either you practice it or you just watch it.
I would like to express my appreciation towards the two organizers: the Hungarian Fashion- and Sportdance Federation and Casa de la Música Cultural Centre, who are hosting this high quality festival in Hungary for the first time. I think both the organizers and myself, we hope that this event is only a first step and that this series of events will soon become a tradition.
It makes me especially happy that such a modern and elegant facility like Sportmax-Hegyvidék gives place to the dance festival.
Congratulations to the organizers, good luck to the participants of the competition and I also wish all spectators a good time in Budapest.

Welcome to the 2010 Latino World Dance Festival!
It makes me proud that we have the chance to host a high standard international dance festival in Budapest. Our aim is to present you the best national and international productions and dancers. The festival is a feast, a unique event of the dance world and of course a competition for the dancers.
It will be the first time between 8th- 12th September that the World Dance Festival and Workshop is organized. The dance festival is going to take place at two venues such as the Csa de la Musica Cultural Center and the Sportmax Hegyvidék as the competition hall.
It is not the first time that the most remarkable part of the national amateur dance life, the Casa de la Musica is organizing a dance competition. On one hand because of its size, on the other hand because of its 3000 registered amateur dancers.
As the organizers of the event we will do our best to run a laudabel standard series of competitions and workshops year by year.
During the time of the workshops within the confines of the City Center of Europe palace district programme we provide free admittance to our visitors at Vas u 16. in the Casa de la Musica.
We are looking forward to host the following countries on the World Dance Festival: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, UK, Holland, Croatia, Poland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Turkey.
We hope that our programmes will become an unforgettable memory for all of you and we can welcome you again in September 2011 on the 2nd World Dance Festival!
